Ages 3-5 Years and Children Entering Gr. K-1: Tennis should be fun! Designed to introduce children and students to the game of tennis. Emphasis will be on learning the basic skills of forehand, backhand, serve, and volley in a non-competitive and fun environment. Develop skills using foam balls, lower nets, and shorter courts.Entering Gr. 2-3: Basic fundamentals introduced and reviewed. Students will be divided within class by experience level (beginners and advanced beginners). Foam and low density balls will be used to develop rally skills and match play. This age group will have opportunities for USTA play days.Entering Gr. 4-5 / 6-8: Designed for those students interested in learning the fundamentals of tennis and the more advanced player interested in some competitive play. This age group will have opportunities for USTA play days. Students will be grouped according to ability level. PREPARATION: Please wear tennis shoes, bring a racquet and a water bottle, and donate a new can of tennis balls (one new can per session to help us keep our fees low) to class. NOTE: Balls will stay with the tennis program.RAIN DAYS: classes will be cancelled and students can make-up missed time during a different lesson/session held throughout the Summer. Hastings High School varsity tennis players will help coach, as well.

If emergency treatment is necessary and I cannot be reached, my permission is granted for emergency resources to transport my child to an appropriate medical facility. The child will be transported at my expense. Further, I hereby release the staff and Hastings School District/Community Education from any liability in the event of injury.
