Each participant will select their special COE glass, hand cut and design three (3) ornaments; a Snowman, a Santa and a Tree. Complete an entire oil painting (12 x 16“). Be amazed at how much fun and enjoyment this painting technique will give you! Class meets at DreamScapes By Kristi located at 682 Commerce Dr, Hastings (upstairs from Two Rivers Automotive). There is a 10 step stairway to access the art studio.     This Wonderful Norwegian delicacy is made for banquets, holidays, weddings and special occasions. If you are Norwegian and missed recording Grandma’s recipe, tips and techniques - this class is for you! Note: other nationalities find lefse delicious too! Learn the fine points in making the dough, baking, storing and of course how to serve lefse - bonus is a bit of history and humor too. We will begin with real potatoes using a number of authentic recipes - and a modern version using instant potatoes. Plan to sample your fresh, warm creations with traditional fillings plus take home finished lefse and dough to bake then share with family and friends. This class is a collaborative effort to prepare and make the lefse. Be prepared the day of class to pay an additional food fee of $9 directly to the instructor. Only registered and paid participants are eligible to participate in class. Please do not bring any extra helpers unless they have paid and registered for this course.

    Gather your puzzle fanatic friends or family members! Join us Saturday, November 9th for a puzzle tournament. Doors will open at 9am for coffee and treats. Teams of four will race to put together a 500 piece puzzle. All teams will put together the same puzzle which will be revealed that morning when the clock starts at 9:30am. The team that finishes first or has the most done when the timer ends wins bragging rights! We will provide the puzzle, coffee and a sweet treat. This event is open to teams of all ages. Register under one person’s name and then the person registering will answer a question of who the other three people are on the team. We will host a community puzzle exchange during this time. Spectators and tournament participants are welcome to bring a puzzle or two if you want to trade with others.

Each student will go home with 10 dozen boxed holiday treats. This class is open to those ages 12+ attending with an adult. All packaging is supplied.   • Four Famous Cookies - Krumkake, Pizzelle, Sandbakkelse and Rosettes!

    Learn to create the rolled Norwegian cookie, Krumkakes made with cream, butter and cinnamon or sometimes flavored with vanilla. For generations, Minnesotans have purchased their irons to bake krumkakes from local manufacturer Nordic Ware in St. Louis Park. Italian Pizzelles are also baked on the top of the stove using an iron but are a flat, anise-flavored cookie or they also may be flavored with vanilla. The chewy, almond Swedish Sandbakkelse are delicate golden brown in color and are baked in tiny tins to resemble tarts. Finally, we will master deep fried Rosettes - those exceedingly fragile, paper thin Scandinavian delicacies dusted with confectioners’ sugar. Expect great recipes plus the many tips and techniques that will make your baking a success! Bring containers to transport your creations safely home. Be prepared the day of class to pay an additional food fee of $14 directly to the instructor. Only registered and paid participants are eligible to participate in class.

    Hosted by Hastings Community Education and Hastings Area Senior Center. Todd Anderson will be bringing his Dazzling Neil Diamond tribute show to the Hastings Middle School stage. Experience Neil Diamond’s hits such as “Sweet Caroline” and “America” as Todd brings a celebration of this musical icon. This is a fun evening for participants of all ages! Advanced registration is required. Registration closes Wednesday, May 7th. The price includes a general admission ticket, seats are not reserved. Doors open at 6pm.
