  • Russian Cake Decorating Tips (open to ages 14 thru adult)

    Try an easier way to create flowers by using Russian cake decorating tips. Each student will take home 12 decorated cupcakes using this new technique.  Plan to give instructor $12 at class for all consumables and supplies used in class.  There is an optional additional set of tips available from instructor for just $10 at class.  Min. 6/Max. 12
  • Chocolate Truffles for All Occasions

    Truffles are delicious and easy to create for you or for giving. Dip truffles in chocolate or roll them in chopped nuts, cocoa, flaked coconut or chocolate sprinkles. Truffle centers may be a plain rich chocolate or they may be flavored with espresso or liqueurs. You can decide to place a surprise pecan half, whole almond or a candied cherry in the center, too! Assorted round chocolate truffles are a delight for your taste buds and a pleasure for your eyes in their decorative candy cups. Expect to take home an assortment of 25 exquisite truffles.     The bundt cake craze is in full force. Learn tips and tricks from a demonstrator for Nordicware as you prepare, bake and glaze several types and sizes of Bundt cakes in class. Students will take home four bundt cakes made in class. Plan to give instructor $12 at class for consumables and supplies. Min. 6/Max. 12
  • More Buttercream Skills (Ages 12 +)

    Come get some more skills in cake decorating.We will learn how to make buttercream roses, leaves, boarders and writing to decorate an 8" cake to take home.     This wonderful Norwegian delicacy is made for banquets, holidays, weddings and all special occasions. If you are Norwegian and missed recording Grandma’s recipe, tips and techniques – this is the class for you! Note: other nationalities find lefse delicious, too! Learn the finer points in making the dough, baking, storing and of course how to serve lefse – bonus is a bit of history and humor, too. Begin with real potatoes using a number of authentic recipes – and a modern version using instant potatoes. Sample your fresh, warm creations with traditional fillings, plus take home finished lefse and dough to bake then share with family and friends!   • 4 Famous Ethnic Cookies

    Learn to create the rolled Norwegian cookie, Krumkakes made with create, butter and cinnamon or sometimes flavored with vanilla. For generations, Minnesotans have purchased their irons to bake Krumkakes from local manufacturer Nordic Ware in St. Louis Park. Italian Pizzelles are also baked on the top of the stove using an iron but are flat, anise-flavored cookies or they also may be flavored with vanilla. The chewy, almond Swedish Sandbakkelse are delicate goldenbrown in color and are baked in tiny tins to resemble tarts. Finally, we will master deep fried Rosettes – those exceedingly fragile, paper thin Scandinavian delicacies dusted in confectioners’ sugar. Expect great recipes plus the many tips and technique that will make your baking a success! Bring containers to bring your creations safely home.     Students will participate as a group making cookies and candies for the holidays.Favorites like Russian Teacakes, Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies, Cranberry-Orange Shortbread Cookies, Chocolate Fudge and Pretzel Rods dipped in caramel and chocolate.Each student will go home with 10 dozen boxed holiday treats.   • Great MN Hot Dishes!

    The Minnesota hot dish (elsewhere called a casserole) is a one-dish supper or side dish) baked in your oven using a single piece of cookware. We will use fresh ingredients (no canned soups) and do easy preparation for a family meal or make impressive elegant company fare for friends or crowd-pleasing recipes for pot luck. Many of these hot dishes can be made ahead, chilled, and then baked. AND there is minimal dishwashing! Create up to 15 sensational dishes including:Beef, Pork and Sauerkraut; Pork Loin with Dried Apricots and Cherries; Beef and Spinach (or Broccoli); Eggplant and Cheese; Chicken Cobbler with Carrots, Mushrooms and Peas; Lentils and Vegetables; and Baked Penne Pasta with Chicken, Broccoli and Mushrooms just to name a few.
