Hastings Community Education

In this introductory class, you will make 3 mandala paint dotted pieces of artwork. Turn them into your choice of magnets, pins or pendants. All supplies and dotting tools are provided for use. Painting will be done in class. Sealing and finishing work of your mandalas will be completed by the instructor and your artwork dropped back off at class event location within 1-2 weeks. No experience necessary for this class. Just have fun!

Background:

Mandala dot art is a pattern that is created with many small colorful dots. The pattern itself is usually quite simple and is constructed of several geometrical figures. The center is a dot, which is a symbol considered free of dimensions. It is interpreted as the starting point, the beginning of contemplation, and devotion. From there, the dot is surrounded by lines and geometrical patterns that symbolize the universe, encompassed by the outer circle which represents the cyclical nature of life. It is considered to be a therapeutic art and reflects the artist’s soul.
