    THE WALK PROGRAM IS BACK The 2021-22 Indoor Walking Program The Program is held in the Hastings Senior High School Field House, 200 General Sieben Drive. This climate‐controlled facility is open: 6:00 to 7:00 am and 3:00-10:00 pm Monday through Friday* & 8:00 am ‐ 3:00 pm on Saturdays*. The program is NOT open during school hours, on Sundays, or the dates listed below. The Indoor Walking Program begins September 13, 2021 and runs through July 2022. (Approximately 6.5 laps around is equal to 1 mile.)For the safety of all participants, students and employees in the building, we appreciate your cooperation in following program guidelines and rules. Guidelines for 2021-22: Safety is of the highest priority for our students and staff and we are continuing to use the Raptor Technology Scanning System, district‐wide. Bring your driver’s license/photo I.D. to Community Education for a brief background scan. Simply show your customized Walk Pass and your Raptor Scan Badge to the high school reception staff member on DAYS WHEN YOU ARE WALKING. The high school site WILL NOT be able to make the badge for you and you will be directed to obtain one at the Tilden Community Center, 310 River St, Hastings – prior to your walk. To receive your WALK PASS and Raptor Scan Badge you will need to bring your license or photo I.D. to the Tilden Community Center and the entire process will take 5 minutes. PROGRAM RULES: The Walk Program is CLOSED DURING SCHOOL HOURS M-F 7:00 am-3:00 pm Enter the Building using the upper south doors. Wear appropriate footwear, not street shoes. Walk Directions: CLOCKWISE (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) COUNTER CLOCKWISE (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) Jogging is permitted on the second floor upper deck only. As a courtesy to walkers, joggers are asked to use the inside lane next to the guard rail. Please pass walkers in a single file using the inside single lane. Infants secured in strollers are allowed. When walking with a stroller, please be courteous to other walkers. If the Hastings Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, or if Hastings High School is closed for any other reason, the building will also be closed to the walking program.7. On weekdays when school is not in session, but the building is open, the track will close at 8:00 pm rather than 10:00 pm. *Hastings High School will be CLOSED TO WALKERS on the following dates:Nov 25, 26, Dec 24, 25, 27, 30, 31, Jan 1, Feb 21, April 15,18, May 30 and July 4, 2022. PLEASE NOTE: No walking on Saturdays, if holiday is a Friday or Monday. Plus, due to unforeseen occurrences, walking may not be available dates other than those noted during the year. Registrants will be notified via email and signs will be posted on‐site as soon as we have been made aware of the closure.
  • Teachers "SAVE YOUR LICENSE" (Fall 2021/ Winter 2022)

    Hastings Community Education, in partnership with South Washington County Teacher's Union, offers teachers and easy way to meet all six Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) license renewal ‘requirements’ online! They are part of the total 125 hours needed in the five-year period to renew MN teaching licenses. To renew, most teachers must have at least one experience (or CEU hour) from each of the PELSB renewal requirement areas: Positive behavioral intervention strategies, reading instruction preparation, key warning signs of early-onset mental illness, suicide prevention, English learners, cultural competency. Complete these sessions online on your schedule! The non-refundable $25 registration fee is due with registration.     Online / Anytime This course is designed for any student preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own schedule and at their own pace. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email and can access the course at any time. The fee for this course is $60, and you may repeat the course at no charge.

    Does your child want to learn to play the piano? Join us this fall for weekly small group classes. No prior experience is needed. Learn to play a simple tune in your very first 45-minute lesson! At the Village Music School, we believe after-school music programs are an excellent opportunity for young musicians to expand their horizons through small music clubs. We provide our students with opportunities to work in small groups with teachers who have exceptional performing experience. Our focus is on success and fun while learning, and our goal is to allow children to experience the joy of achievement and the pride of accomplishment. Everyone is musical! At the end of the class, take home your Mods to share with family and friends.   • Custom Glass Mosaic Sign or Photo Frame

    Create a beautiful frame to highlight your special photos. The cutting is already done and patterns will be available. You choose your sign or frame the first night of class. Sign choices will include welcome, house numbers, the state of Minnesota, and flowers. The first night is working on your project and the second night is grouting and learning about glass cutting and other mosaic projects. Be prepared the day of class to pay an additional supply fee directly to the instructor. Supply fees are based on which project you choose. Each frame is $10 and you can make as many as you want. A variety of signs are available in different sizes starting at $14 each.

No previous coding experience necessary. The Fall 2021 Code Championship Series is a series of six tournaments in six weeks (it's ok to miss one or two).
