Babysitting 101 with Emergency OutfittersGeneral InterestEmergency Outfitters is back! This wildly popular course fills fast every year and leaves youth equipped to to be ready to care for children! This course follows the American Academy of Pediatrics – Babysitter Lessons And Safety Training (BLAST). Students learn current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, how to handle behavior problems, and how to manage their babysitting business. Students receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Students need to bring a snack, beverage, and sack lunch. Recommended for ages 10-14.Summer 2021

Critters Day Camp (ages 5-10)General InterestDoes your elementary school student love critters? So do we! Join Hastings Community Education staff as we spend two amazing mornings learning about critters in the Tilden neighborhood. Squirrels? Check! Robins? Check! Bumble Bees? Check! Through exploration, journaling, crafts, and games, we’ll enjoy nature and getting to know the critters right next door. Please send a peanut free snack and water bottle each morning. This is the ONLY local Driver’s Education Program taught by experienced Hastings School District teachers Vicki Davis, Nathan Neuman, Erik Dietz, and Ryan Redetzke.Thorough parent communication is top priority. FAST KIDS - Staying Safe while Home Alone with Emergency OutfittersGeneral InterestFirst Aid and Safety Trained Kids is a 4-hour course for 7 – 10 year olds. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, stranger safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, and personal safety. This course helps prepare children for staying at home alone. Students will receive a book, handouts and a home first aid kit as part of the class. Students need to bring a snack, pencil, and water bottle.Summer 2021

GRASP is an academic summer correspondence program in reading and math for grades K-8. This program seeks to help students retain skills learned during the past school year by providing review exercises. Students work on lessons weekly, send them in, and receive feedback from real educators. There’s even an online option for 4th-8th grade topics. Every student who participates is eligible for a certificate and medal upon completion of their 9 lessons. Plan on ordering the grade level your student is in the process of completing. This is a review program, not intended for introducing new topics. Families save $10 when registering for both Math and Reading! Registration closes April 27th.Summer 2021

Pollinator Day Camp (ages 8-12)General InterestWe love Pollinators! Using amazing curriculum from the U of M Bee Lab, we’ll enjoy a whole day of learning about pollinators--bees included! Through games, crafts, and exploration, students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the impact pollinators have on our eco system. Sewing Camp -- Beach Edition! (4th-8th grade)General InterestProject Runway style fun!!! Sewing is a life-long skill that can be both a joyful hobby and useful skill. Students this year will sew a swimsuit cover up, mini messenger bag, earbud case, and even build your own personalized sewer’s handbook. Students learn multiple stitches and styles of machine sewing. All supplies, tools, and equipment are provided and all of the projects go home at the end of the week!Summer 2021
