  • American Red Cross Babysitters Training

    MN CPR This American Red Cross course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old. Bring a drink and your own lunch and a drink.

  • Flower Pot Painting and Planting (Grades 1 and up)

    Renee Reinardy min. 8/max. 25 Design and paint your very own flower pot! When the painting is done, we will plant stunning live flowers in your pot. This is a great way to learn how to care for a live plant, or to give as a thoughtful gift. Includes Class includes all supplies: 2 pots, dirt, starter flower and instructions on how to care for the plants. This class may be done outdoors, weather permitting.

    Grand Rapids Academic Summer Program You have heard the saying, "Use it or lose it" so we are offering the GRASP program this summer. GRASP is a correspondence program for grades K-8 which helps students maintain reading and math skills while they are on summer break. This program helps students retain skills learned during the past school year by providing review exercises. Students work on lessons weekly, send them in, and receive feedback from real educators. There is even an online option for 4th-8th grade. Order the grade level your student is in the process of completing. This is a review program, not intended for introducing new topics. Families save $10 when registering for both Math and Reading! Registration closes Friday, April 28. Materials may be sent to your child's school for distribution if they attend one of our public schools. If you do not attend one of our public schools, you will be notified when materials are available for pick up from Tilden Community Center. Completed lessons need to be returned to GRASP by August 4th so you might have to submit more than one lesson a week.

  • In-Person ACT Preparatory Course (4 sessions)

    Advantage Prep This course consists of four, three-hour classes that meet one day each week at one of our many school locations. The course includes diagnostic testing, instruction in time management, overcoming test anxiety, science reasoning, English strategies and review, essay writing, reading comprehension, and math strategies and review. Students enrolled in these classes not only benefit from personal instruction taught by our experienced instructors, but also have free access to our online course. The fee for this course is $180*, with all class materials included. Register by February 16th to secure this class. Bring pencils, paper, calculator, and 3-ring binder to class.   • McAuliffe Fourth Grade Guitar Lessons

    Join us for guitar lessons taught by the Hastings Elementary Music Teachers: Jonah Conway, Elizabeth Sorensen and Lisa Poncelet. This session is open to McAuliffe 4th graders and will be held at McAuliffe Music Room from 3:45-4:15PM.     Instructors: Mitch Shemon and Kyle Kreuser Grades 5-8 Join Mr. Shemon and Mr. Kreuser to learn the game of cribbage. Cribbage is a fun game of numbers! Snacks will be provided. Registration is required. This course series is offered free to Hastings Middle School students. Thank you to the United Way of Hastings for providing a grant to cover fees.
  • Mini Clay Pot Bugs- Grades 1 and up

    Renee Reinardy Creating these sweet little insects is fun and can be used as flower pots, pencil holders, or whatever you choose! Participants will paint and accessorize 3 mini clay pots to resemble a bumble bee, butterfly, and a ladybug! More pots will be decorated if time allows. Dress for mess and prepare to have fun!
  • Online ACT Preparatory Course with Advantage Prep

    Online, Anytime Advantage Prep This course is designed for any student preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own schedule and at their own pace. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email and can access the course at any time.   • Spring Break STEM (Grades 1-5)

    Join us during Spring Break for a variety of STEM activities. Working in teams we will try not to melt the ice and have a Catapult Challenge. You will also get to build a Marble Maze and a sensory bottle that you get to take home. Other activities may be added as time allows.
  • Sweetheart Saturday

    Bring your VIP and join us for the sweetest Saturday! You each will create your own canvas art to bring home and enjoy a sweet treat. We will have a photo opportunity so bring your camera! We will have music playing so you can dance your sillies out! All ages are welcome but this is probably most appropriate for those preschool age to mid elementary age. Registration closes February 6th in order to allow us to be prepared with the correct amount of supplies. Register under the attending grownup’s name.
