  • 4th Grade Guitar Lessons - Kennedy

    Join us for guitar lessons taught by the Hastings Elementary Music Teachers: Emma Auby, Jonah Conway and Lisa Poncelet. This session is open to Kennedy 4th graders and will be held in the Kennedy Music Room from 3:30-4:15pm. On May 22nd parents and teachers are encouraged to join us in the music room for a special informance starting at 4pm. Be sure to select the appropriate option for if you need to borrow a guitar or not. We have 24 guitars available to borrow. *If you borrow a guitar, you are responsible to cover any costs regarding loss or damage of the guitar.

    Ability 2 Believe is offering a 4 day summer camp for students on an IEP or 504 plan. Students will have fun learning and playing alongside their peers. The camp offers a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, special activities and outdoor playtime. The adaptive camp will be held at McAuliffe August 12th-15th from 9:30am-11:30am.

    This course is best suited for 10 to 13-year-olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems. Students receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Bring snacks, lunch, a drink, a pencil, and colored pencils or markers.

    Dive into a summer bursting with creativity! This camp is the perfect opportunity for children to explore their creative side and have fun making wall worthy art, art deco, canvas paintings and more! Shapes, color, movement and texture will be introduced to children while they explore pour painting, modeling clay, hydro dipping, collage, marbling and other creative mediums and methods. This program helps students retain skills learned during the past school year by providing review exercises. Students work on lessons weekly, send them in, and receive feedback from real educators. There is even an online option for 4th-8th grade. Order the grade level your student is in the process of completing. This is a review program, not intended for introducing new topics. Families save $10 when registering for both Math and Reading! Registration closes Sunday, April 28th. Materials can be sent to your child's school for distribution if they attend one of our public schools. If you do not attend one of our public schools, you will be notified when materials are available for pick up from Tilden Community Center.

    The sun is your best friend if you know how to use it! This class teaches how to cook with just the sun. Solar cooking bypasses traditional cooking means. No electricity, gas, charcoal, or wood needed for solar cooking. Students will learn how to cook meals, dry food for preservation, and purify water all with the sun. In the end, students will build their own mini sun oven and take home an edible micro green plant.

    Learn 3D design and modeling skills using Tinkercad while creating a wand, then create your own magical pendant. Create fun designs to complete different magical CAD challenges. This course will introduce students to using CAD modeling & design software. They'll also do fun Hogwarts-inspired challenges in TinkerCAD's SimLab. Student-designed pendants will be printed and sent home at the end of class. Printing and material fees are included. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home.
