  • Introduction to Mandala Dotting

    In this introductory class, you will make 3 mandala paint dotted pieces of artwork. Turn them into your choice of magnets, pins or pendants. All supplies and dotting tools are provided for use. Painting will be done in class. Sealing and finishing work of your mandalas will be completed by the instructor and your artwork dropped back off at class event location within 1-2 weeks. No experience necessary for this class. Just have fun! Background: Mandala dot art is a pattern that is created with many small colorful dots. The pattern itself is usually quite simple and is constructed of several geometrical figures. The center is a dot, which is a symbol considered free of dimensions. It is interpreted as the starting point, the beginning of contemplation, and devotion. From there, the dot is surrounded by lines and geometrical patterns that symbolize the universe, encompassed by the outer circle which represents the cyclical nature of life. It is considered to be a therapeutic art and reflects the artist’s soul.

  • Learn to Play Pickleball

    Get your friends together and learn to play pickleball! This class is a great way for brand new players to learn the sport of Pickleball. Players receive both instruction and playing time. Players will learn all the rules and basics to be able to play. We will cover equipment, lingo, score keeping, court position, and the fundamentals of serve, return, and the volley. Bring your own pickleball paddle if you have one, if not, one can be provided.
  • Little Gardeners Camp (Entering Grades 2+)

    This camp is perfect for inspiring future gardeners who like to play in the dirt! Campers will create a succulent terrarium, container herb garden, hydro paint a flower pot, create treats for the birds, assemble glass beaded suncatchers, paint inspirational rocks and more! Some projects may be conducted outside, weather permitting. Water bottles and a light snack will be provided, or children may bring their own drink and nut free snack.

If there is inclement weather, camp will be moved to the middle school south gym.

    We are off to beautiful Lanesboro, MN and scenic Bluff Country of Southeast MN. This is a fun and educational experience through the Amish countryside. You'll meet our Amish friends and explore their farms and shops where they make wood furniture, quilts, baskets and more. We will stop at an Amish Bakery filled with fresh bread, pastries and treats. As we travel to each location, our guide will explain about the Amish culture and learn about the families we meet. After our tour we will have a meal at the Pedal Pusher in Lanesboro and stop at Pepin Heights store for some apples and treats. Fee includes: Transportation, tour and lunch..     Visit the gardens nestled along the Mississippi River in St. Cloud. The Virginia Rose Garden features a series of gardens reminiscent of European gardens.     See the best of the Twin Cities! Take a narrated sightseeing tour of Minneapolis and St. Paul with a professional guide. This is primarily a riding tour but will include a couple of stops. You will get out of the bus to view Minnehaha Falls. Enjoy the sights as you view St. Anthony Falls, the historic riverfront area, the milling industry and "Mississippi Mile." You'll see places such as Vikings US Bank Stadium, Old City Hall, the Twins Target Field, and the Sculpture Gardens. In St. Paul there are Victorian Mansions along Summit Avenue where the Governor's Mansion and James J. Hill House are located. See the magnificent St. Paul Cathedral, the State Capitol, Landmark Center and more! We will stop for lunch around 1 at the famous Bucca Di Beppo for a delicious pasta lunch. Plan to board the luxury motor coach at the Hastings Walmart at 8:45 a.m. for a 9:00 a.m. departure. Bus returns by approx. 3:30 p.m. Registration deadline is June 14th!!

    The bus will leave Hastings at 9:45 and arrive at the Stillwater dock by 11:00am. Enjoy the scenes while you have a sandwich buffet bar with all the Delicatessen Meats & Cheeses, Sandwich trimmings, Seasonal fruit, Potato Salad and a cookie. Water and a choice of Soda or Coffee also included. We will arrive back at the Pier at 1:30 plenty of time left to walk downtown Stillwater and explore the local shops, Antique stores or indulge your sweet tooth at Barbara Ann's Fudge shop, Candyland or Tremblay's. We will board the bus at 3:45pm and head back to Cottage Grove and the Hastings.

During this creative class, you will adorn a 6” x 18” weatherproof panel to create a beautiful piece of garden or wall art. Several options of colorful precut stained glass, tile, mirrors, and glass gems will be available. Browse through ideas and patterns provided or create your own unique design. This class is perfect for all skill levels. No glass cutting or experience is required. All supplies and tools will be provided. Also included daily are fun games such as Dodgeball, Capture the Flag, Kickball, and more! Camp ends with games/scrimmages the final day for each sport, where athletes can showcase their skills. Campers should wear sunscreen, bring a water bottle, lunch, two snacks, and athletic shoes and clothing. All equipment is provided. Plan to meet on the field by the middle school tennis courts.     Learn 3D design and modeling skills using Tinkercad while creating a wand, then create your own magical pendant. Create fun designs to complete different magical CAD challenges. This course will introduce students to using CAD modeling & design software. They'll also do fun Hogwarts-inspired challenges in TinkerCAD's SimLab. Student-designed pendants will be printed and sent home at the end of class. Printing and material fees are included. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home.
